🌿 Still Picking, Still Forgotten: The Story of Kesarbai Aidake

“I don’t have anyone... so I pick plastic to survive.” Kesarbai Aidake, born on 25 February 1947, lives in the slums of Kalwa, Thane. At 78, instead of enjoying rest and care, she walks the narrow alleys daily — dragging a sack almost her size, picking plastic bottles, paper, or metal scraps. She doesn’t complain. She doesn’t beg. She survives — quietly. 💔 The Unseen Life Kesarbai’s days are shaped by hunger, loneliness, and uncertainty. Despite being a vital part of our waste ecosystem, she is: Unrecognized by the government Unprotected by welfare Unseen by society She earns just ₹20–₹30 a day. Enough for a meal, but not enough for medicine, clean clothes, or a roof that doesn’t leak. 🌟 When Devdoot Foundation Found Her During a ground visit to Kalwa slums, our volunteers met Kesarbai. Her story reflects the struggle of thousands of elderly ragpickers who work silently, unseen and unsupported. Moved by her strength and pain, we enrolled her under our Uplift Swachhata Doot initiative. ✅ Devdoot Foundation Has Provided: Monthly ration and nutrition kits Clean clothing and basic footwear Medical check-ups and medicine Emotional support and community connection Help to register for senior citizen government schemes Most importantly — ✅ A personalized Devdoot Foundation ID card 📸 Photo 2: (Insert here) Kesarbai proudly holding her Devdoot Foundation ID card — her first ever identity proof after decades. 🕊️ Giving Her Dignity — Not Just Donations For someone like Kesarbai, having an ID card means more than paperwork — it means belonging.
